Wm Juaire Sterling, a division of New England Copperworks, is owned by Bill Juaire and Susanne Blackinton-Juaire. Both of their families have a legacy of fine craftsmanship. Susanne’s great-great-grandfather, Roswell Blackinton, founded R. Blackinton & Co. in 1862. Bills grandfather was a highly-skilled tool maker. |
|
Bill began his apprenticeship in 1986 at Providence Metal Spinning, where he learned his craft from the very spinners who created silver pieces for Gorham. He then moved on to New England Sterling where he continued his trade for over ten years before deciding to start his own business. With over twenty years of experience, Bill is accomplished in spinning various types of metal, including silver, gold, copper, brass, pewter, and aluminum. |

Susanne is the fifth generation in her family to keep silver manufacturing traditions alive. Her training started at sixteen, working in various departments at her father, Ross’s company learning many aspects of silver manufacturing. She quickly discovered a passion for silversmithing and apprenticed with master silversmith Walter Bigos, former president of the Piltz Company, Ltd. After the sale of her father’s company, Susanne stayed on for a couple of years before joining Bill at New England Copperworks. |
Each piece we create is unique and requires a feel for the metal as much as an understanding of its properties. Although silver may be hammered, spun, and annealed, knowing how much heat or pressure to apply is crucial and is something that can only be learned through experience. We are proud of our heritage and will continue to use the same metalsmithing techniques as our forefathers to create premium quality, sterling silver products.
